Hot Air Balloon Marrakech Price Guide 2026

How Much Does a Hot Air Balloon Ride in Marrakech Cost?

Marrakech is one of the most affordable places in the world to fly in a hot air balloon. Compared to popular ballooning destinations like Cappadocia, the Serengeti or Bagan, a flight over the Atlas Mountains and palm groves costs a fraction of the price — without compromising on the experience. Whether you are travelling on a budget or looking for something truly luxurious, there is a flight tier that fits.

This guide breaks down every pricing option, explains exactly what is included, and shares practical tips for getting the best value from your balloon experience.

The Three Flight Tiers Explained

We offer three distinct experiences. All three include the same core elements — hotel pickup, 4x4 transfer to the launch site, a full balloon flight at sunrise, traditional Moroccan breakfast, a flight certificate, and insurance. The difference lies in exclusivity and extras.

Classic Flight — 1,700 Dhs per Person (~€170 / ~$185)

The Classic Flight is our most popular option and the best value for individual travellers, couples or small groups. You share the balloon with 16 to 24 other guests, which keeps the per-person price low without diminishing the experience in any way. The views are identical, the flight duration is the same (45 to 60 minutes), and you receive the same breakfast and transfers as every other tier.

This is the option most first-time flyers choose, and it consistently receives outstanding reviews. If you are looking for a memorable experience without overspending, this is it.

Private Flight — 5,000 Dhs for the Entire Balloon (~€500 / ~$540)

The Private Flight gives your group exclusive use of the balloon for up to 28 guests. At 5,000 Dhs total — not per person — this becomes remarkably good value for families, friend groups or small tour parties. If you have even four or five people, the per-head cost drops well below the Classic rate.

Private flights are popular for birthdays, proposals, anniversaries and corporate outings. You set the tone, you control the atmosphere, and you do not share the basket with strangers. The pilot tailors the experience to your group, including the pace and altitude of the flight.

VIP Flight — 6,000 Dhs for the Entire Balloon (~€600 / ~$650)

The VIP Flight is our premium offering, accommodating up to 30 guests with the balloon entirely to yourselves. What sets it apart is the breakfast served on board — a full Moroccan spread of fresh bread, local honey, olive oil, soft cheese, pastries and mint tea, all enjoyed while floating above the landscape at sunrise.

For special occasions or travellers who simply want the finest version of the experience, the VIP flight is unmatched. It is also the option most frequently booked for honeymoons and milestone celebrations.

What Is Included in Every Flight

Regardless of which tier you choose, the following is always included at no extra charge:

  • Hotel pickup and return — a 4x4 vehicle collects you from your riad or hotel in Marrakech, typically around 5:30 to 6:00 AM depending on the season
  • Transfer to the launch site — a scenic drive through the outskirts of Marrakech to the launch field in the Palmerie
  • A 45 to 60 minute balloon flight at sunrise, reaching altitudes of 500 to 1,000 metres
  • Traditional Moroccan breakfast — served after landing (or on board for VIP guests)
  • A flight certificate commemorating your experience
  • Full insurance coverage for the duration of the activity

There are no hidden fees. No fuel surcharges, no landing fees, no compulsory tips. The price you see is the price you pay.

How Marrakech Compares to Other Balloon Destinations

One of the most common reactions from guests who have flown elsewhere is surprise at how affordable Marrakech is. Here is a rough comparison of balloon flight prices around the world:

  • Cappadocia, Turkey: €200 to €300 per person for a standard shared flight
  • Serengeti, Tanzania: €500 or more per person, often as part of a safari package
  • Luxor, Egypt: €100 to €150 per person, though experiences vary widely in quality
  • Bagan, Myanmar: €350 to €400 per person during peak season

Marrakech sits comfortably at the lower end of this range while offering a world-class experience — snow-capped Atlas Mountains, palm groves, desert landscapes, and over 300 sunny days per year. You are not paying less for a lesser experience. You are simply benefiting from Morocco's favourable economics and a competitive local market.

How to Get the Best Price

The simplest way to save money is to book directly with the operator. Third-party platforms like GetYourGuide, Viator and TripAdvisor charge commissions that are either passed on to you as a higher price or absorbed by the operator at the cost of service quality. By booking with us directly, you save approximately 20% compared to the same flight listed on aggregator sites.

Beyond that, here are a few other ways to maximise value:

  • Travel in a group and book the Private Flight. At 5,000 Dhs for the entire balloon, a group of eight pays just 625 Dhs each — less than half the Classic per-person rate.
  • Book during the off-peak months (June to September). Availability is more generous, and you may find last-minute flexibility that is harder to come by during winter.
  • Book early for peak-season dates. Christmas, New Year and Valentine's Day flights fill quickly. Securing your spot well in advance avoids disappointment and means you do not resort to pricier last-minute alternatives.

Booking & Payment

To confirm your reservation we ask for a deposit of 50€ (or 500 MAD) per person. The remaining balance is settled before the flight, and we accept bank transfer as well as cash payment at the launch site. If your flight is cancelled due to weather — which happens on fewer than 5% of scheduled mornings — you receive a full reschedule or refund of your deposit at your choice.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pricing

Are tips included in the price? Tips are not included, but they are entirely optional. If you feel the crew and pilot provided an exceptional experience, a small tip is appreciated but never expected. There is no set amount — whatever feels right to you.

Do children pay full price? Children aged 6 and above pay the same rate as adults on the Classic Flight. On Private and VIP flights, the price covers the entire balloon regardless of how many passengers are children. Children under 6 are not permitted to fly for safety reasons.

Is travel insurance included? Yes. Every passenger is covered by our flight insurance for the duration of the activity, from hotel pickup to return. This covers the balloon flight itself and the ground transfers. We still recommend that you carry your own personal travel insurance for your broader trip, but you do not need to purchase any additional cover for the balloon ride.

Can I pay by card? We primarily accept cash payment on the day of the flight. If you require card payment, please let us know when booking and we will do our best to accommodate you.

What if I need to cancel? Personal cancellations made at least 48 hours before the flight are fully refunded. Weather cancellations are always refunded or rescheduled at no cost.
