We launch right at first light so you catch the Atlas Mountains turning pink and gold. By the time Marrakech starts to wake up, you are already in the air drinking in the view.
A complimentary 4x4 collects you from your Marrakech hotel or riad and drives you straight to the launch field. No taxis, no stress — we handle every detail.
After landing, sit down in the palm grove to a full Moroccan breakfast — fresh msemen, honey, olives, and mint tea poured the traditional way. The perfect landing for a sunrise flight.
Three ways to fly over Marrakech — shared, private, or VIP with breakfast in the basket. Every flight writes a different memory.

View detailsThree things move the needle on a Marrakech balloon price: how exclusive the basket is, how rich the breakfast is, and how customised the morning is. The shared Classic Flight at 1,700 Dhs (around €170) gives you the same 45-to-60-minute sunrise flight, the same hotel transfers, and the same Berber breakfast as our premium tiers — you simply share the basket with other travellers. The Private Flight at 5,000 Dhs per person (€500) reserves the entire balloon for your group, which is why it is the go-to choice for proposals, family birthdays, and corporate teams. The VIP Flight at 6,000 Dhs per person (€600) is the ultimate version: a private balloon, a personal concierge from pickup to drop-off, and a full traditional breakfast served inside the basket while you drift above the Atlas foothills.
For comparison, the same flights booked through GetYourGuide, Viator, or Tripadvisor typically run 15–25 % higher because of platform commission. Booking direct also means you get our priority weather rebooking and direct WhatsApp support — not a call centre.
Every Marrakech hot air balloon flight covers transfers, breakfast, certificate, and insurance. Here is exactly what is in the price — and the few things that aren't.
A hot air balloon ride over Marrakech is one of the few ways you can really feel Morocco from above. Your morning starts in the dark — our driver collects you from your riad or hotel long before sunrise and drives you by 4x4 to a quiet launch field in the Palmerie, on the northern edge of the city. When the balloon finally lifts off, the noise of Marrakech falls away and the only sound you hear is the occasional roar of the burner above your head. The sun rises behind the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, painting the peaks pink and then gold, while a patchwork of palm groves, Berber villages, red-earth farmland, and open countryside unfolds beneath your basket. Very few visitors to Marrakech ever see the city from this angle — and once you do, you never see it the same way again.
We run three different flights so you can match the experience to your budget and occasion. Our Classic hot air balloon Marrakech flight starts at 1,700 Dhs per person — a shared basket ride that gives couples, solo travellers, and small groups an unbeatable balloon ride Marrakech price without cutting any corners. If you want the balloon all to yourselves, the Private flight starts at 5,000 Dhs and is popular for proposals, birthdays, anniversaries, and family celebrations. The VIP flight from 6,000 Dhs goes one step further with a full breakfast served in the air as you drift above the landscape. Whichever option you pick, every flight includes complimentary hotel pickup, 4x4 transfer, a sit-down Moroccan breakfast after landing, a personalised flight certificate, and full third-party liability insurance.
Booking directly with us is usually around twenty percent cheaper than third-party platforms like GetYourGuide or Viator, because you skip the middleman commission. If the weather forces us to cancel, you get a free reschedule or a full refund — no questions asked. Marrakech enjoys more than three hundred sunny days a year, so flights run all year round, but the cooler months between October and April give you the crispest skies and the sharpest views of the snow on the Atlas.
From pickup to return, the whole adventure takes about four hours, so you are back at your accommodation by mid-morning with the rest of the day still ahead of you. Whether this is your very first balloon ride or you have flown somewhere else in the world, a hot air balloon Marrakech flight hits differently — no photograph really captures the silence, the colours, or the sheer scale. Wake up early, float with the sunrise, and see Morocco the way it was meant to be seen.
Book Your FlightEvery sunrise flight lifts off from the Palmerie, on the quiet northern edge of Marrakech. Here is exactly where you're going — and why it's the right launch zone for a balloon ride.
Hot air balloons in Marrakech do not take off from inside the medina — they launch from the Palmerie, a vast palm-grove reserve just twenty minutes north of the old city. The launch field sits on flat, open farmland surrounded by date palms, olive trees, and red-earth fields, with a clear horizon east toward the Jbilet hills and south toward the snow-capped High Atlas.
Your driver collects you from your Marrakech hotel or riad in the dark, drives you north through the empty streets, and drops you at the launch field as the crew is firing up the burners. Half an hour later you are airborne, drifting silently west or south depending on the morning wind — never over the Atlas peaks themselves, but always with them framing the southern horizon as the sun rises.
Flights lift off before dawn to catch the calmest winds of the day. The exact time shifts with the season, following sunrise over the Atlas.
We confirm your exact pickup time by WhatsApp the evening before your flight, based on the weather forecast and your hotel's location.
Our driver pulls up at your Marrakech hotel or riad while the city is still asleep. All we ask is that you bring curiosity and a warm layer.
You ride through the Palmerie in a 4x4 convoy as the eastern horizon slowly turns blue. Every kilometre, the anticipation builds.
Your certified pilot walks your group through the safety briefing while the crew fires up the burners. Watch the envelope swell off the ground and fill against the dawn sky.
For the next 45 to 60 minutes you drift in near-silence as the Atlas Mountains, palm groves, and Berber countryside unfold beneath your basket in golden morning light.
After a soft touchdown, sit down to a full traditional breakfast — fresh mint tea, msemen, honey, and olives served under the open Moroccan sky.
Your driver brings you back to your accommodation before midday. You will look at Marrakech differently from now on — you have already seen it from the sky.
Dawn mornings in Marrakech can be cool, especially November to March. A few small things make the flight much more comfortable.
Hot air ballooning is the safest form of aviation when it's done by a properly licensed operator. Here is exactly what stands behind every flight we run.
Authorised by Morocco's Direction de l'Aviation Civile to carry paying passengers.
Current Technical Certificate for Air Operations — the legal requirement for commercial balloon flights in Morocco.
Each balloon passes a Navigability Certificate inspection twice a year, on a maintenance schedule stricter than the manufacturer's minimum.
Every pilot holds a valid European balloon licence plus Moroccan DAC certification, with regular flight checks.
Flights only depart in safe conditions. We never fly in winds above 15 km/h, in rain, fog, snow, or when thunderstorms threaten the area — the final call always rests with the pilot. If your flight is cancelled for weather, we reschedule for the next morning at no charge or refund the full amount. Every passenger is covered by full third-party liability insurance for the duration of the flight, and our 5,000+ flight track record speaks for itself.
Quick answers to the questions we get asked most. For the full guide, scroll to the FAQ section at the bottom of the page.
A shared hot air balloon ride in Marrakech starts at 1,700 Dhs (≈ €170) per person. The Private flight for your own group starts at 5,000 Dhs (€500), and the VIP flight with breakfast served on board from 6,000 Dhs (€600). Every package includes hotel pickup, 4x4 transfer, a Moroccan breakfast after landing, and a personalised flight certificate. Booking directly with us is around 20% cheaper than GetYourGuide, Viator or TripAdvisor.
For most visitors, yes — it is consistently rated one of the best things to do in Marrakech. You drift over the Palmerie, red-earth farmland and Berber villages as the sun rises behind the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, a view very few travellers ever see. With a 5.0★ TripAdvisor rating across 5,000+ flights flown, it is a splurge that guests rarely regret. See all three options on our hot air balloon Marrakech flights page.
Every flight lifts off from a quiet launch field in the Palmerie, on the northern edge of Marrakech — not from the Agafay desert. The Palmerie's calm pre-dawn winds and flat, open terrain make it the safest and most scenic launch zone, with the Atlas Mountains directly on the horizon at sunrise.
Hotel or riad pickup is between 05:00 and 06:00, depending on the season — earlier in summer (sunrise around 06:00) and a little later in winter (sunrise around 07:30). You receive your exact pickup time by WhatsApp the day before your flight. Ballooning is done at first light because the air is calmest and the views are clearest.
The flight itself lasts 45 to 60 minutes. Including pickup, the 20–30 minute 4x4 transfer to the Palmerie, the safety briefing, the flight and the Moroccan breakfast after landing, the whole experience runs about 4 hours. You are back at your hotel by mid-morning with the rest of the day free.
October to April gives the clearest skies and the sharpest views of snow on the Atlas. We fly year-round — Marrakech has more than 300 sunny days a year — but summer mornings (June–August) are warmer and sunrise comes earlier. Weather cancellations are rare, and you always get a free reschedule or a full refund.
Yes. The Private flight (from 5,000 Dhs) gives your group its own balloon — popular for proposals, birthdays and anniversaries — while the VIP flight (from 6,000 Dhs) adds a full breakfast served in the air. Both can be reserved directly with us by WhatsApp or our contact form.
More than 5,000+ sunrise flights flown. Every one of them left someone with a story.
Floating silently above the palm groves as the sky turned from deep purple to gold was genuinely one of the most moving moments of my life. The whole operation was seamless — pickup on time, friendly crew, and a gorgeous Moroccan breakfast to finish. If you only do one thing in Marrakech, make it this.
We chose the VIP package for my wife's birthday and it was worth every dirham. Eating breakfast while drifting a thousand metres above the Atlas Mountains felt surreal. The pilot was knowledgeable and funny, and the whole team went above and beyond. We have already recommended it to everyone we know.
I was nervous about heights but the ride was so smooth I forgot all about it within minutes. The silence up there is incredible — you can hear birds below you. The views of the palm groves stretching to the mountains were like a painting. Only giving four stars because the morning was slightly hazy, but that was just the weather, not the service.
My partner organised a private balloon flight to propose and the team helped him plan every detail without me suspecting a thing. When we were floating above the desert at sunrise he got down on one knee — it was absolutely magical. The crew even had flowers and decorations ready when we landed. A memory we will treasure forever.
We booked the classic flight as a family of four and it was the highlight of our Moroccan holiday. The children were thrilled and the pilot made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable. The traditional breakfast afterwards was delicious and plentiful. A fantastic experience at a very fair price — we would do it again in a heartbeat.
Your safety is the single most important thing we do. Every one of our pilots holds full international certification and completes ongoing training. Before every flight, our ground crew runs a full inspection of the balloon, basket, and burner system. We only launch when the weather is well within our safety parameters, and our equipment is serviced and certified on a regular schedule. Across our entire history we have maintained a spotless safety record.
Marrakech has good ballooning weather for most of the year. The peak season runs from October to April, when the air is crisp, the skies are clear, and the temperatures are comfortable at altitude. Flights in summer (June to August) are still possible, though the ground temperature before and after the flight can get hot. We never fly in strong wind, storms, or low visibility.
All flights launch at sunrise, when the wind is at its calmest and the light is at its best. Hotel pickup is usually around 5:00 AM. The exact time shifts slightly across the seasons as sunrise moves, and we will send you your precise pickup time the day before your flight.
Plan for around four hours total. That covers the drive from your hotel to the launch field, watching the balloon come to life during inflation, a short safety briefing, the 45 to 60 minute flight itself, a traditional Moroccan breakfast once you are back on solid ground, and the return transfer to Marrakech.
Dress in layers — mornings before sunrise can be surprisingly cool, even in the warmer months, and it warms up quickly once the sun is up. Closed-toe shoes with flat soles are essential; sandals, flip-flops, and heels are not allowed. Bring sunglasses and apply sunscreen before you leave. Please avoid loose scarves, dangling jewellery, or anything that could catch near the burner flame.
Guests must be at least six years old to fly. For medical safety reasons, we cannot carry pregnant passengers. If you have a serious heart condition, a spinal issue, or any condition that limits your ability to stand for an extended period, please check with your doctor before booking. A maximum weight limit of 120 kg per passenger also applies.
Safety is never negotiable. If the weather is outside our flying window, we reach out to you as early as possible — often the evening before — to arrange an alternative date during your stay. If your schedule does not allow a reschedule, you get a full refund with no cancellation charges whatsoever.
You can reserve your flight through our online contact form, by phone, or on WhatsApp. A deposit of 50€ (or 500 MAD) per person locks in your date, and the remaining balance is due before the flight. We accept bank transfers as well as cash payment at the launch site. For group bookings or private charters, get in touch directly and we will tailor the arrangement to suit your needs.
We have three options to match every budget and occasion. The Classic Flight starts at 1,700 Dhs per person on a shared balloon with 16 to 24 fellow travellers. The Private Flight starts at 5,000 Dhs per person and gives your group exclusive use of the balloon for up to 28 guests. The VIP Flight, from 6,000 Dhs per person, includes a private balloon for up to 30 passengers with a full breakfast served on board. Every package includes hotel transfers, the 4x4 ride to the launch field, the flight itself, breakfast, and a personalised certificate.
Children aged six and over are very welcome on any of our flights. The basket walls are high and sturdy, so the environment feels secure, and the pilot gives a clear safety briefing before every departure. An accompanying adult is required for all young passengers. If you are travelling with young children, the Private Flight is a great pick — it lets your family enjoy the morning privately and without any time pressure.
This is one of the most common questions we hear, and the answer almost always surprises people. Unlike standing on a cliff edge or looking out from a tall building, a balloon basket feels remarkably stable because it drifts with the air currents rather than against them. There is no swinging, no wind in your face, and no sudden drops. The vast majority of our guests who start out anxious describe the flight as one of the most serene experiences they have ever had. Our pilots are well practised at putting first-timers at ease from the very first moment.
All our flights launch from the Palmeraie, a vast palm-grove reserve about 20–30 minutes north of central Marrakech. The launch field sits on flat farmland with a clear eastern horizon toward the Jbilet hills and a southern view toward the snow-capped Atlas. Hotel pickup is included with every flight.
Booking directly with us is typically 15–20 % cheaper than platforms like GetYourGuide, Viator or Civitatis because you avoid the middleman commission. You also get priority on weather rescheduling, direct WhatsApp support with our team, and no call centre. Free cancellation for weather is guaranteed either way.
It depends entirely on the wind, because a balloon drifts with the air rather than steering through it. On a typical morning we cover anywhere from a few kilometres up to about 15–20 km across the Palmeraie and the open countryside north of Marrakech. Because you move with the breeze, the basket feels completely calm and still — most guests are surprised there is no wind in your face at all.
Your pilot changes altitude throughout the flight to find the best views and the smoothest air. We drift anywhere from just above the treetops to roughly 600–900 metres above the ground, with the Palmeraie, the Jbilet hills and the snow-capped Atlas Mountains on the horizon. The ascent is gradual and the heights stay gentle, so it never feels steep or sudden.
Everything is taken care of. A chase vehicle follows your balloon throughout the flight and our 4x4 ground crew is waiting where you land. From there we take you to a traditional Moroccan breakfast, and afterwards drive you back to your hotel or riad. Round-trip transfer from your accommodation is included in every flight.
Because the balloon drifts with the wind, it lands in a different spot from where it took off — usually an open stretch of farmland or a clearing that our ground crew can reach easily. The pilot stays in radio contact with the team throughout, so they are already waiting at the landing site when you touch down.
Not much — bring your camera or phone for photos, a warm layer as it is cooler at dawn and at altitude, comfortable closed-toe shoes, and sunglasses. Everything else is provided, including hotel transfer, the post-flight Moroccan breakfast, and your personalised flight certificate.
We recommend booking as early as you can, especially in peak season (spring and autumn) or if you have a specific date in mind, because sunrise capacity is limited. If your flight is ever cancelled for weather, we rebook you free of charge or refund you in full, so booking ahead carries no risk.
Ballooning in Morocco is overseen by the DAC (Direction de l'Aviation Civile), the national civil aviation authority. Our operator holds a valid air-operations certificate, every balloon undergoes scheduled airworthiness inspections, and our pilots hold full EU/EASA certification on top of their Moroccan registration. It is the same regulatory standard you would expect flying in Europe.
Only a few baskets fly each morning. Book now to lock in your place in the sky.
